to Lieutenant Colonel Hall, Royal Artillery, the Officer Commanding the Troops in this Colony, and that he entirely approved of its being submitted to the Defence Committee of which he is the Chairman.

I may here state that I expect the report of the Committee will be sent in in a day or two. Colonel Crossman leaves for Singapore and the Straits early next week.
