:-ground leveled in 1874 for the proposed New Civil Hospital, it's erection was soon after commenced; however it was stopped soon after being commenced, and the Contractor paid for the work he had done in altering the foundations, preparing ward and other work, etc., vide G.S. No. 2918 of 1878.

In the Colonial estimates for 1880 a sum of $2000 was again provided for its construction, but the work was not commenced in consequence of the different sites proposed by the Surveyor General not having been approved, vide L.N. No. 182, 218, and 253 of 29.9.80 and 26.10.80.

An amount has again been inserted in the Colonial Estimates for 1882 but nothing can be done towards its erection until the site shall have been approved, on which it is to be built.
