Military Authorities with regard to a suggestion thrown out by the latter whether the Governor would be disposed on behalf of the Colony to share the expense of laying down pipes and fitments and lighting with, "those parts of the Barracks and War Department's property which are considered practically the roads, thoroughfares and avenues, open to the public and which are at present without light or are very indifferently lighted with oil lamps."
2. From the first, Governor Hennessy intimated to the Major General Commanding his entire concurrence with the proposed arrangement and now that permission to incur the expense has been granted by the War Office and that necessary office material has arrived from England; the Governor was asked to come to a definite decision without delay.
Your Lordship will see that the scheme entails on this Colony an initial outlay of $5,000 and a monthly expenditure of $970.
