In Design A, it will be seen that the Barrack rooms 1 and 2 for Chinese Constables are arranged that the "bess project in front of the doors facing the front verandah" preventing them from being opened and the end rooms 5 and 6 also appear to be somewhat inconveniently arranged as the occupants must pass through the Chinese Constables' rooms along and their food when cooked must be brought in by the same route. The end rooms on the First floor are arranged in a similar manner and are open to the same objections.

I have therefore ventured to prepare another view marked B with a design to rectify these defects as far as practicable, and although the buildings in this design contain about 6000 cubic feet of space less than Design A, yet the Barrack rooms are arranged to give a larger superficial space per man.
