within, I beg to recommend Mr. Alfred May, at present Acting Third Master Government Central School, as

only Master on Department will qualified for the post. Mr. May received a high-class professional training in England at a regular Training College (St. Mark's and St. Nicholas College, Lancing),
was
some years the Headmaster
of St. Paul's College in Hongkong, possesses also a fair knowledge of the Chinese written language
and
of
the Cantonese Colloquial, and is a gentleman of considerable fact and Experience
as a School teacher.
3. For the post of Chinese Assistant Master
the salary indicated within, I beg to recommend Mr. Wong Shun-lan, who has been referred to in His Excellency's Dispatch to the Secretary
of
State Mr. B of 21 February 1881, paragraph 7. Mr. Wong Shun-lan is at present
Master of the Chinese division
of
the Westpoint
of
Government School, is a
first-rate
Classical scholar in Chinese and an
experienced teacher in Chinese schools for the last 25 years. He is also possessed of the personal and Moral qualifications requisite for the post.
