Geddes, Commanding the 1st Royal Enniskillings Fusiliers, Commander I. G. Jones, Royal Navy, of Her Majesty's Ship Victor Emanuel, Mr. W. M. Deane, late Acting Colonial Treasurer and Captain Superintendent of Police and Acting Colonial Secretary and myself, with Captain Bury, Royal Artillery, Acting Assistant Military Secretary, as Secretary

I attended one meeting of the Committee but on the departure of the Governor I ceased to do so as I considered it undesirable to remove Lieutenant Colonel Hall from the Chairmanship which I should have been obliged to do if I had attended the Committee after having become Administrator.

The Members are engaged at present in visiting the various localities recommended for forts and also the various points round the island where an enemy might effect a landing
