Dated June 10th

I understand that it is the intention of Government to appoint a paid Medical Sanitary Inspector
and that the appointment is not a separate one,
incompatible with the performance of other duties.
I therefore have the honor to make application
to His Excellency the Governor for the appointment for the following
reasons : –
That for the past seven years the duties required by this appointment have been performed by one gratuitously, and I have every reason to believe the work has been done efficiently and that the sanitary inspections and reports I have made and the arduous and dangerous work I have done may
be deemed worthy of recognition:
I have not found the work incompatible with the performance of my other duties, nor
have I found it necessary to complain of overwork, but I think it is worthy of remuneration
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
E.E.D.
Acting Colonial Secretary
