I should be glad, with Your Lordship's permission to comply with the Commodore's request if it can be ascertained that persons holding positions similar to those named in the Schedule annexed to
his letter,
are
in other Colonies,
exempt from Taxes.

With reference to a letter from Sir Arthur Kennedy, dated 24th July 1876, No 600, addressed to Commodore Watson, requesting to be furnished with a quarterly Return of houses occupied by Naval Officers for which exemption from Taxes is claimed; I have the honour to enclose herewith
