which I have assigned to the Clerk in the Registry and Sheriff's Office, the Bailiff, the Messenger in Bankruptcy, and the Sheriff's Officer, I have been guided by the necessity of giving what I think sufficient to secure the services of competent men. No fees of any description will be allowed them, and I will call on them to find security to a reasonable amount.

Mr. Snowden, the Acting Chief Justice, considers that there should be two Messengers instead of one in Bankruptcy, and as I attach great weight to His Honour's opinion and am anxious not to be sorry if Your Lordship were to modify to that extent the scheme submitted in paragraph 22.

With respect to the Supreme Court accounts, I have to inform Your Lordship that they had been audited by the temporary Clerk, Mr. Freire, each month since 1st January, 1880, but that on my calling the attention of the Acting Auditor General to the necessity of his own personal audit, they have been audited accordingly by the Acting Auditor General every month since the commencement of the year 1881.
