I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated the 6th instant (K81) and enclosures, and beg to thank His Excellency for kindly supplying me with information withheld by the Honorable Mr. Price, Acting Colonial Secretary, in September 1880 contrary to Excellency's orders and which His Excellency naturally supposed until now had been made aware of at the time.

I am at a loss to express my surprise at the action of the Honorable Mr. Price in the matter.
