of the staff of interpreters
and translator, but I consider
that his combined Salary
as
Inspector of Schools
and head of the interpreters
should not exceed $4200
He receives $2400
as
Inspector of
Schools.
his additional Salary
as
head of the interpreters
should be fixed at
$1800
I have no wish to
impose
on him such a fault of the
duties of Court Interpretation
as can be adequately performed by his subordinates, but he must hold himself
in readiness to perform
the duties
of
Chief Interpreter.
If circumstances arise his
services are required,
and he will be the more
able to do so
having been relieved of
the duties
of Chinese Secretary.
3. I approve of the appointment of
Mr. Ball as
in the place of
Mr. Rozario
as Interpreter
with Salary
