Colonial Secretary's Office.
Hongkong, 11th April 1881.
I have the honour, by direction of the Governor, to inform you that arrangements at Government House have been made for King Kalakaua. His telegraphic message to His Majesty, to this effect, was despatched on Saturday last, but, as the "Thicket" had left Shanghai before the arrival of the telegram, I am to request that you will be good enough to mention the matter to the King on his arrival.
I am further to request the favour of a communication to the hour when His Majesty is expected to arrive. I have the honour to be, Sir, Your most obedient Servant,
(signed) Frederick Stewart
Acting Colonial Secretary
The Honble
Mr. R. Hooper
Consul General for Hawaii
