Gazette of 19th October and a notice in Gazette of 19th October 1892 dated 9th October 1872 stating that dollar notes will be received by the Government in payment of taxes.

Notes are issued by the following Chartered Banks:-

(1) Oriental Bank Corporation.

(2) Chartered Mercantile Bank of India, London and China.

(3) Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China.

By this Ordinance there is a stamp duty payable on notes of 3 per cent per annum on "$100 of the average notes in Circulation".

The Coinage Act, Imperial Act 33 & 34 of 1870. This act may be applied at any time to Hongkong. See Sections 11 and 19.
