The Gallows in use in the Victoria Gaol is simple and effective, the mechanism is similar to the one at Newgate as shown in the accompanying drawings. It is larger, stronger, and of a higher class, and the details are more complete, than the one in Victoria Gaol. However, it would be more difficult to construct in the Colony and the cost would be more than the one in use.
