given him a junior clerkship at salary of $40 per month, the only means of support the family now possess.

Believing this to be a very exceptional case under the instructions in Sir Michael Hicks Beach's despatch, No 100 of 13th August, 1879, I venture strongly to recommend to Your Lordship to allow me to submit the proposed vote to the Legislative Council.
