In reply to your letter of yesterday on the subject of Hakka interpreting in the Supreme Court, I have the honour, by direction of the Governor, to inform you that, until Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies decides certain questions as to the proposed Interpretation Department, His Excellency is willing to agree, so far as to your request, to direct that the Hakka Interpreters be appointed.
His Honour Sir George Phillippo, Chief Justice, has been informed of His Excellency's decision.
