I have the honor, by Direction of the Governor, to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 8th instant, stating that you have received intimation, through the medium of a friend, that an order has been sent from the Colonial Office for enquiry into the conduct of the Chief Justice, and asking whether His Excellency has prior to my availing myself of the leave of absence which has been granted, any command for me.
