With reference to the letter which had been
sent to Mr. Price, in which the Council called upon him to substantiate or withdraw the allegation he had made
imputing
a motive for the official
printing of
Mr. Foê's report, His Excellency
the Governor reads the correspondence which
had passed, ending
with
a letter received
from the Acting Colonial Secretary, half an hour
before the steamer
left, in which letter Mr.
Price withdrew his allegation.
His Excellency the Governor
states that, Mr. Price having thus
of
the
Council
were then duly signed and sent.
Mr. Prime has accordingly left the Colony on
22nd December.
His Excellency the Governor observes
that in connection with this matter an
unofficial effort
has been made, late at night
on the 21st instant, to induce him to allow Mr.
Price to leave without complying with the
resolution
of
the Council...
It is agreed that the consideration of certain papers relating to other cases stand over
for March meeting.
The Council is adjourned, sine die, at 5 P.M.
