The Minutes of the Council held on 18th December are read and confirmed.
Mt Gibbons' letter, dated 17th December, in reply to the letter of The Acting Colonial Secretary of 16th December inquiring if Mr Gibbons wishes to supplement his written defence by an oral statement before the Governor in Council or if there is any document or record he desires to consult, is read and considered.
His Excellency the Governor having invited the Council to consider the question whether the Members present assent to the suspension of Mr Gibbons, the following resolution is unanimously agreed to:-
Having read the last reply of Mr Gibbons and again considered his whole case, the Council recommend the Governor to give Mr Gibbons the opportunity of resigning, and in the event of his not doing so they are prepared to assent to his suspension to be accompanied by a recommendation that, in place of dismissal, the Secretary of State may, if possible, give him employment elsewhere. The Council further recommend that the Governor deal liberally with Mr Gibbons as regards money matters.
