You will state that they are "records of the Supreme Court and
express my hope that they may
be returned as soon as possible.
Upon this I made a junior
it was read to
know to whom the
requisitions and whose receipt
was to be kept.
On August 5th by a letter bearing that date the Chief Justice endeavoured to create
an unpleasantness between the Acting Clerk, Mr. Hageland and myself by quibbling over the meaning of the word "take" which he defined to be "to seize by surprise or artifice or against the will of the person".
This was in answer to my objection to having original vouchers taken.
