RECR13 LCD 17 FEB 81

October 16th 1880.

My dear Sir John Hennessy

I saw Mr. Gibbons yesterday and had a long conversation with him on the subject of his differences with the Chief Justice.

I found him quite beyond the reach of reason or remonstrance. I told him that the Governor is very anxious to bring about some accommodation, which I thought might be arrived at by some concessions on his part.
