And disposed of by the Governor in E M Ford's absolute Satisfaction
Many months ago, the whole matter having been now dead, and buried in the distant past, I fail to see what further was to be attained by the revival at this particular juncture, of a defamatory old charge, unless it was to injure my character. As I can conceive no other object, and have been debarred from any opportunity of affording explanations in refutation of M Ford's unworthy charges before their appearance in print (Page 533), I am now reluctantly compelled to seek your Lordship's protection.
I have the honour to be, My Lord, Your Lordship's most obedient Servant, Inspector Surveyor General.
