I am directed by the Earl of Kimberley to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 25th ult applying for the appointment of Penang:
to inform you that My Lord is at Nions. Hotel Kensington- after July it will be "Post restante Bruxelles" for about a week or so, after which I shall return to London.
The post in question is at present filled by General Anson, who has intimation of retiring.
It is proposed to reduce the nature of the appointment upon the next vacancy.
