The ion Captain Langen humbly, begs to draw

the attention of H. M. Colonial secretary, to the following question, in which he solicits advice and information.

Captain Langen, born in Germany, but a

naturalized British subject

Lalding a Masters Certificate from The Board of Trade has acquired property in certain Islands in the Pacific Ocean, of the group called Caroline Islands and those Islands that are lying to the south and West of said groups Fiz Quap, Hielup, Peis, Moguemol, Phillips and Culey group. Lelew Islands St Andrews, Anna, Maria, Lord North & Davids, where he had established a brisk trade with the natives and owns considerable property in the shape of houses and land "Captain Langen begs to be informed of those Islands be claimed by any European Power and of H.M. Government would eventually protect his interests and the interests of other British Subjects employed by him as traders.

Kaplam Langen begs especially to draw the attention of H. M. Colonial Secretary to the Felew Islands, the "Raline King" of which has repeatedly expressed his desire to place himself and his country under the protection of the British Government:

The Lelew Islands are situated in the fairway between China & Japan on the one side and Australia
