Gentlemen,
We are favoured with your despatch No. 86 of the 30th September 1878 on the subject of the proposals for re-engagement of the police. We have generally views on the subject.
I am instructed to provide passage to Hong Kong for Police Inspector Corcoran and his wife. Inspector Corcoran is due to arrive in the Colony on the 23rd of January and has been authorised to communicate with you on the subject.
