The following order of His Excellency is then communicated to him for his information and guidance on letter 16th of February from the Colonial Surgeon.

His Excellency is pleased to approve of Dr Marques being placed in provisional charge of the Civil Hospital during Dr Murray's indisposition.

Copy of the concluding paragraphs of a report made by the Deputy Inspector General of Hospitals and by Dr Bibbins dated February 13th, 1880

The duties of the Superintendent of the Civil Hospital cannot be considered excessive or of such an arduous nature as to preclude their efficient performance by a Medical Officer in good health.

Forwarded to the Superintendent of the Government Civil Hospital for his information and observations as desired by His Excellency the Governor.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of an extract from the Report of Dr Bracken, C.B., Deputy Inspector General, and Dr Bibbins, forwarded to me by direction of His Excellency the Governor.

With regard to the extract, I have to remark as follows:

1st It contains their opinions that the duties of the Superintendent cannot be considered excessive.

2nd That they are not of such an arduous nature as to preclude their efficient performance by a Medical Officer in good health.
