As to pensions.

I would
that we
should send the Board
of Trade
a copy
of the C.O. Minute of 1870
of officers quitting Imperial for Colonial Service, and say that it is presumed that in accordance with the arrangement described in it, the Surveyor to be appointed to Hong Kong will not lose his claim
to Imperial pension for this temporary Service; if this temporary Service, duplicated and Colonial, amount
to 10 years: - that as regards the Hong Kong pension, 1/60 of Hong Kong Salary will, as a rule, be allowed for each year of 365 days' Service, if the duplicated and Hong Kong Services, taken together, make
up 10 years, and he
retires
on
account of age or ill health; - and that, after
retirement, if Service in Hong Kong, terminated as above, 1/60 of Hong Kong Salary will be allowed, - and an additional sixtieth for each completed year, provided final aggregate pension shall not
exceed
that the
rule cannot provide that any
addition
to the pension
might be made
to the Colonial Service.
