Stewart and O'Malley to deal with Mr. Price's various complaints and that Mr. Price declined to allow the matters to be so dealt with.

reference to the attitude

assumed by Mr. Price towards the Government,

he is only causing trouble and is likely to injure himself, and on this account

I am anxious to give

him

every facility for withdrawing from a false position. I should therefore be glad if three gentlemen, such as Mr. Snowden, Dr. Stewart and Mr. O'Malley would kindly read his letters of complaint of August

last, as well as the various

papers

and

despatches

connected with him, and

say what should be done. These three

gentlemen are,

I believe, sincere

friends

of Mr. Price, and

they

entertain,

as

we

all do, the highest opinion of him, and
