This is to be double the estimated cost as stated by the papers sent before. I recently submitted information to the Finance Committee. Acting on that information, I reported to Lord Kimberley that the work would not cost more than $800,000. It certainly seemed to me at the time that $800,000 was an extremely low estimate, compared with the cost of the submarine cable we ran last year between Green Island and Kowloong the year before.
