6* 1880, by letter 222 and bearing that date I addressed a letter to the Chief Justice for the purpose of being forwarded to His Excellency, and on September 7th, 1880, by another letter bearing that date addressed to the Acting Colonial Secretary I made certain grave charges against the Chief Justice and prayed His Excellency to forward inquiry, and again on September 24th, 1880, by letter 1225, and bearing the mentioned date addressed another letter to the Chief Justice for the purpose of being forwarded to His Excellency. I again by letter dated September 398-408 further charges against the Chief Justice which I desire to substantiate, and lastly by letter 1243 and dated October 11th 1880 I supplemented my letter of 110 dated September 24th 1880 at the request of, as I understood, His Excellency.
None of the before-mentioned letters (all of which affect seriously my relations with the Chief Justice) have I received any reply, and I now submit most respectfully that I ought not to be called upon to consider charges made by the Chief Justice until I have been afforded opportunity of substantiating my charges. By letter 260 bearing the last before-mentioned date and addressed to the Acting Colonial Secretary, I made further accusations against him, particularly the charges I have made.
