Such being the case, I think it proper to offer observations as I may make thereupon. I venture to trouble His Excellency with a statement at some length. I have been unable to write on Mr. Gibbons' letter earlier because the order made was not before me until the 14th October instant. A further affidavit was filed by Mr. Stephens on the 18th instant. It is only today that I have obtained the necessary explanation from Mr. Gibbons' solicitor, Mr. Stephens.
I will give that statement in a separate memorandum in order that this answer to Mr. Gibbons' charge may be confined to conclusions on this issue of inaccuracies.
