In addition to the Establishment I now find that you have reinserted them without explanation in the Estimates for 1881 as well as in the Supplementary Estimates 1880 and your despatch now under reply affords no information respecting the necessity for either appointment.

The Registrar, the two Deputies and the two Judge's clerks, composed the staff which Sir Michael Hicks Beach proposed; it appears to be as strong as is required; and I shall be glad if you inform me that the Chief Justice concurs.

As regards the interpreters I am still waiting for your long promised despatch on that branch of the Service.

I consider the staff to be quite sufficient for the work of the Registry: HGL81

6. Considering the state of confusion into which the offices of the Court had fallen, I should have expected that you would have given the fullest attention.
