Your Despatch No 176 of the 1st Nov. refers to a Circular relating to the Staff of the Supreme Court, and requests to be furnished with detailed information supplementing the Report of the Commission.

It was expressly stated in that Despatch that the Governor was not in a position to form a definite opinion upon the question without having received detailed information from you.

The continuance of the provisional scheme which the Supreme Court had adopted was provisionally sanctioned pending the receipt of such information.

The Despatch of the 20th Oct 1879 to which it is intended as a reply.

It was proposed to delay sanctioning the proposed changes until informed of its cost.

Stating detailed views upon various matters.

Points were raised without which it was difficult to strike a decision.
