I believe that the staff proposed
by the Secretary of State and shown
in Column 3 of the statement will
be found to be quite sufficient.
When it is considered that
the acting accountant (Barff) has to
attend as well to his duties at the
Post Office, the staff which
the Secretary of State suggests will be
quite as strong, if not stronger, than
the existing one.
Which I understand
is able to undertake the whole
work. Owing to the frequent absences
of the Registrar and
Chief Accountant there
is at the present moment
no one to exercise the proper control over the other Officers of the Court. This will
be remedied on
the arrival of the new Registrar.
It is considered that at least half the time
of the present Registrar (Plunket) is taken
away at the Police Magistrates Court and that
with reference to Mr Snowden's
remarks on the subject of Auditing
