intended merely the appointment of a more efficient person in place of the present Shroff, and not an additional appointment.
If the additional duty allowance to the Staff Accountant be added as shown in Column 3 of the tabular statement, I believe it will represent what was contemplated by the Commission.
4. It will be seen from the Statement that the present provisional arrangement involves no extra expenditure; but it must be borne in mind that Mr. Barff, the Acting Accountant, draws his pay as Postmaster General, and performs the duties of both Offices.
The Salaries drawn by Messrs Barff, Sangster, and Mossop are as follows:
Barff - Assistant Postmaster — $2880 Additional as Acting Accountant 1080 $3960
Sangster - Clerk of Court (provisional) = $1920 - Drafts as Acting Deputy Registrar 480 $2400
Mossop - Judge's Clerk $1440 Additional as Acting Deputy Registrar 600 $2040
