in the Registry, I have to state that Mr. Gibbons, the Registrar, executed bond for £2,000 before he left London. In the case of the other Officers, I propose, with Your Lordship's consent, to require them to find the following Securities:

Acting Deputy Registrar $5,000
Sheriff $2,000
Clerk and Usher $2,000
Chinese Clerk and Translator $500
Chinese Clerk and Shroff $5,000

In his letter of the 15th of January last, the Chief Justice has reported fully on his reasons for not having framed any new Rules and Orders under Ordinance No 13 of 1873. Neither, His Honour says, does experience make any change necessary or desirable.

Both the Chief Justice and Mr. Justice Snowden agree in thinking that more accommodation is required for the purposes of the Court. The space occupied by the Crown Solicitor might possibly be curtailed; but even then, only a small amount of inconvenience would be removed. The adjoining building, known as Crosby's store, which was obtained some years ago from the Military Authorities for the purpose of increasing the accommodation of the Court, might be utilized. The transference of the Registrar General's Department to that building would give the Court all the space it requires.
