Accountant in the Survivor General's

Department, since approved of by His Lordship in Despatch No. 10 June, I have the honour to report that
on the recommendation of H.E. the Surveyor General, I have sanctioned the
promotions of
the
following deserving
Officers of his Department, pending your Lordship's approval:-
Mr. M. Gutierrez, the Second Clerk, who
entered the Service in April 1864, to
be Second
Accountant - Salary $1440 per annum, being
an increase of pay
$360
Mr. Chun Mook, 4th Clerk, who entered the
service in January 1867, to be Third
Clerk - Salary $1080 per annum. This
gives him
an increase of pay
$240
Mr. G. Gutierrez who entered the Service
in June 1869 on a salary of $840, to be
Assistant Clerk
with Salary of $1080 per annum,
being
an increase of $240
The vacant post of
Assistant Clerk was
conferred on Mr. Wong Yum
who out of
seven
competitors received the highest number of marks (counting Knowledge, Handwriting, Arithmetic, and Chinese)
at the
competitive Examination
which was directed to
be held
among the Applicants for the post. The Salary of
the Office
