The Registrar refused to attend the Chief Justice in Chambers, partly for personal reasons and partly because he held that the Chief Justice was bound to hear the cases in Court. The Chief Justice ended by adjourning the cases. In the meantime, having first ascertained that a Reporter was present, the Registrar made
a somewhat intemperate statement
as to the obligation to take the cases in Court, the only justification for which statement would be that the Registrar was right, but he has been ruled by Mr Justice Snowden to have been wrong
When called upon for explanations, he said that his statement in Court turned upon certain grave charges which he had made against the Attorney-General, to which he considered he ought to have a reply before affording the explanations asked for.
