Communication.
The distance from North Point (close by Whitfield Station) to Green Island Point is about 150 yards short of
a
land mile, and
the
greatest
depth of water would be ten fathoms, the cost of one mile of cable (1.05 tons per mile) would be £150 or about $800. As junks and vessels
do not anchor
along the proposed line,
which is the limit of the harbors, I do not anticipate much danger from the anchors of vessels, although fishing boats might have to be

cautioned.
The distance from Hung Hom land to Hung Hom Station is about half a mile - from Green Island Station to the New Water Police Station 1/4 miles,
from there to Yau Ma Tei Station 1 mile. For this connection poles and land wire only would be necessary.
I have &c.,
J. M. Macgowan,
Captain Superintendent of Police.
