Mr Purie, the sole surviving Trustee of the City Hall, has resigned his seat on the Committee. Since the debate in the Legislative Council, Mr. Snowden has also severed his connection with the Committee. The only individuals on the City Hall Committee who now support the somewhat intolerant and illegal position of Mr. Keswick are Mr. Hoppins, a German, Mr Forbes an American, and Mr. Putturije, a respectable Parsee connected with Mr Keswick in business. It is understood, however, that even these gentlemen would probably have long since yielded to the views of the Legislative Council, but that they have got into bad hands and have not received particularly sound advice.
