The correspondence between Dr Ayres and
Dr Wharry has been carefully considered

by me more than once, and I felt
loath to decide that the affair
should be allowed to drop. Whilst
disposed to support the authority of the
the head of the
Colonial Surgeon department, and whilst letting Dr Wharry distinctly understand this,
I could not see
sufficient grounds
for certain vague charges of insubordination &c laid
but was
against Dr Ayres.

Furthermore It appeared
serious to reduce the credibility &
the Superintendent of the Hospital
to an extent I could not sanction therefore
A reason akin to contempt
Fortunately this dispute,
I may
though it has occurred some time was that of the two Gentlemen
and
concerned, was not interfered with
the working of the Hospital.

Not satisfied with bringing
Dr Wharry's conduct before your Lordship, Dr Ayres incidentally
