grossly injurious and Signally - incorrect; and I have to express

my deep regret therefore that His Excellency should have afforded

me opportunity of learning and refuting its Contents before he sent

it to the press.

3. By the next mail I shall deem Myself the honour

of Submitting to Your Lordship my detailed answers To the Ford's allegations, but I feel

that I cannot allow the Gazette to go home without assuring Your Lordship that the report which

appears in it is a Calumnious document.

4. The Report as Your Lordship will observe bears date 16th October 1879,

and has therefore been held back for ten months.

Unfortunately during this period

I have incurred the Supreme displeasure of the Governor, which displeasure Culminated about ten

days ago at Executive Council during which to my great regret

I was unable to Concur in His Excellency's Views in respect of

the public Sanitary matters.

5. The points raised as to the Management of the Gardens And tree planting in this Colony having been finally

Settled and disposed of by The Governor to the Ford's absolute
