They cannot well be replied to, by us as this is only a Branch Establishment.

I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter no. 1450 dated 20th instant and to inform you that The Chartered Mercantile Bank of India, London and China carries on business under Imperial Authority, by virtue of a Royal Charter granted in 1857, and renewed last year (1878).
