the question of salutes to Foreign Envoys passing through Hong Kong I am commanded by My Lords Commissioncis of the Admiralty to request you will inform the Marquis of Salisbury that they have acquainted the Naval Commnander in
Chief in Chiria that the valutes to Her Majesty's
ministers at present accredited to China & Japan
and to the Chinese & Japanese Ministers sat---
present accredited to this Country
