UN: Mankind's best hope for peaceful world

Lake Success, Apr. 25.-The Assistant United Nations Secretary General, Byron Price, said today in. an anniversary state- ment that, although the United Nations still has a long way to go to fulfil the expecta- tions of San Francisco, it remains and will continue as mankind's best hope for a decent, secure and peaceful world.

On April 25, 1945, delegates from 51 nations gathered at the San Francisco Opera House for the first United Nations meeting, which began the work of drafting the charter for the world organi- sation.
