The second record to fall in this year's Colony Swimming Cham pionships went the last event of yesterday evenings programme in the heats at the Victoria Recreation Club with the Eastern Athletic team of Tommy Qui, Tsui Hàng, William Teo and Cheong covering the 200 Yards Free Style Relay in one minute 41 3/5seconds.. Wanted-A Captain To Rouse England's
Fallen Soccer Team
By ÁLAN HOBY
The mental sleeping sickness which is gripping the country has now spread to English footballers. It is time for some_straight_tolking.
The aim of our football rulers should be to produce a team good enough and tough enough to win the World Cup Final in Rio next year. Compared with this, nothing matters.
Yet on their form against Eire, England have as much chance of doing this as I have. At Liverpool they were a gross caricature of a world-class eleven-a team without character.
Consider the facts. Against I don't care a jot about agé ; Morris was the man who played the Brazilians, the Italians, the or building a team for tomor in a trance, Swedes, and the rest we need row. I would choose anen wirly men who will night like dean current form. mons, yet remain as cool as ice
BUSBY WISDOM
Not Below Their Dignity To Watch
By ARCHIE QUICK
If it's conscientiousness you are after, please let me refer you to overseas sport professionals.
Tako snooker, for instance. The average professional cueman has perforce to put in hour upon hour of mono- tonous practice quite apart from match play. His busi- nésg demands that he shall try shot after shot in the solitude of a billlards room even in the heat of summer, Young John Barrie, Britain's youngest professional, tells me he puts in eight hours every day!
But the overseas player is not content with that. They put in the samio amount of practice, play their money matches--and more. When I looked in at the Leicester Square Hall in the heart of London's West End the other:- day there were our two latest "invaders”, Peter Mana and George, Chenier, watching a second division: match - between Alec Brown and Conrad Stanbury In the "Nows of the World" £1,500, handicap tournament.
