SKIPS HONGKONG TO A MEMORABLE VICTORY
Shanghai, Sept. 16.-For a long time to come, the Shanghai lawn bowls world will remember the memorable game played by stocky, bespec tacled Len Sykes in the sccond interport yesterday afternoon. ¡
Mr R. P. Phillips, the Hongkong manager, was one of the happiest man among the visitors last night but deserved all the congratulations showered upon him by Shanghal sportsmen.
When Hongkong was threatened with being overwhelmed, Phillips moved from his inconspicuous seat to take a place directly behind one end of the green and it had a sort of magical effect: The Hongkong four began pulling themselves together for an uphili fight and glorious victory.
Dut Indisputably, it was Syker' match. For the first 14 ends,, he alone stood between Shanghai" and overwhelming score. On nt least six occasions he brought the crowd to their feet in a prolonged opplause with amazing saves,

Second Marcel Thil?
After three trips to America, Marcel Cerdan will make another this coming autumn, and this time his patience la to be rewarded. The Frenchman is to meet Tony Zale for the World's middleweight title, and the match will be promoted by the newly-formed syndicate, the Tournament of Cham- plons, Inc., who staged the recent Zale-Graziano rumpus, and the venue will be officially announced later. In all probability they will again use the Ruppert Sindlum at Newark, N.J.
