There has been only one black spot in these 1948 Olympics. Elghteen boxing judges were suspended for alleged ineffi- ciency. Their judgment was considered hopeless.
But team managers who have been, attending Olympics for 20 years can remember how bad were some of the incidenta in other Games.
In particular they recall how, in 1908, in London, an Ameri- can named Carpenter was dis- qualified for "boring" an Englishman off the track. the same year the American and Swedish flags were omitted from the general scheme of decoration.
