Jews Strike Back Against Massed Egyptian Forces
Tel-Aviv, May 30-Jews struck back last night by land and air against massed Egyptian troops which had pushed up the coast to Isdud, an Army of Israel communique said today, The announcement said an artillery duel also had developed near Isdud. The village is within three miles of the northern limits of a partition drawn strip of Arab territory along the Gaza coast.
That is as far as the Egyptians had advanced virtually unopposed. Ap- parently they now are encountering the first Jewish defences.
