BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS
Two Minor Upsets In Quarter-Finals
Seeded Senior's Narrow Escape
The quarter-final rounds for all five seçtions in the Colony Open Badminton. Championships were completed yesterday at the Victoria Recrea tion Club with upsets, involving the elimination of seeded players, in both the Junior Men's Singles and Doubles,
The game of the evening saw a seeded player in the Men's Senior Singles, Robert Tay, come very near elimina- tion after having taken the first game and lost the second,
The deciding game saw his op- ponent, W. F. Foo, also of Sing Too, put on a sterling exhibition of court- craft to jump into a lead of 8-1. The match looked all his when he de- veloped cramp in both legs and lost 14 points in a row on four of Tay's services.
